Heather Chase, LCSW, SUDC
Executive Director The Haven
My deep-seated dedication to changing the lives of those affected by substance use disorders motivates me in my role as Executive Director of The Haven. My foray into this subject started with volunteer work and other positions in the human services industry. In 2008, I graduated from the University of Utah with a certification in substance use disorder counseling. The University of Utah awarded me a Bachelor of Social Work in 2014 and a Master of Social Work in 2015. As of right now, I am licensed as both a licensed clinical social worker and a substance use disorder counselor.
Having worked in nonprofit administration, leadership, organizational development, counseling for substance use disorders, treatment, and behavioral health services for 19 years, I provide our organization with a diverse point of view. Based on both professional knowledge and a personal understanding of the struggles experienced by those struggling with addiction, my approach is rooted in empathy.
Throughout my career, I have held positions on a few boards and committees, including the Board of Directors for the Department of Occupational and Professional Licensing Substance Use Disorders. I served as a trustee, vice chair, and chair of the board. I have been a member of the MSW admissions committee for the University of Utah College of Social Work for the past three years. I currently serve as treasurer for the Utah Association of Behavioral Health Organizations and assist in running The Haven’s board of directors.
